RWE’s Bas Jansen, Programme Manager OranjeWind Knowledge and Henry Mulder, Senior Technical Knowledge Manager Advisor, talk about RWE's collaboration in North Netherlands with schools such as Noorderpoort, Alfa-college, Hanzehogeschool Groningen, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and other schools, during a working visit by Mark Rutte to Campus Eemsdelta Groningen in Appingedam.
Bas: "I look back positively on the session with the demissionary prime minister. I told him how we from OranjeWind Knowledge share insights and experiences with educational institutions of all levels throughout the Netherlands. In this way, we want to provide future employees with the knowledge and skills needed to make the energy transition possible."
Educational institutions, governments and companies such as RWE are working together in regional campuses such as Campus Eemsdelta Groningen where knowledge development, education and innovation are linked. This is also supported by the central government's economic agenda, which is part of Nij Begun: a broad package of measures to ensure that Groningen and North Drenthe will be and remain an attractive place to work, learn, study and invest over the next 30 years.
Education programme RWE
To get children and young people interested in working in technology from an early age, Henry Mulder is setting up an education programme. For example, he regularly gives guest lessons and lectures at primary and secondary schools. Henry: "It is important for companies like RWE that we inspire children and young people to choose a career in energy technique. They are indispensable for the energy transition. In addition, we can help schools future-proof education by sharing our knowledge and vision with them. This is why we also try to involve other companies from the region, so that the technique offer becomes as broad as possible for the schools."
OranjeWind Knowledge
When developing innovative projects such as the yet-to-be-built offshore OranjeWind wind farm, there is much to learn. Therefore, RWE launched the OranjeWind Knowledge programme to generate and share knowledge to accelerate the energy transition. To ensure the proper dissemination of knowledge, RWE actively cooperates with educational institutions of all levels throughout the Netherlands.
