Regional investment fund project ‘Daar brandt nog licht' kicks off with symposium

25.01.2024

The MBO Brabant Knowledge Pact, along with Avans and Fontys universities of applied sciences and industry partners including RWE, have launched an initiative dedicated to transparent, innovative and flexible degree programmes geared towards the energy transition in Noord Brabant. This distinctively regional project was called “Daar brandt nog licht”, after the well-known lyric of the Guus Meeuwis classic Brabant.

Daar brandt nog licht

ROC Tilburg, Summa College, Curio, Koning Willem 1 College, Yuverta and ROC ter AA have joined forces in the MBO Brabant Knowledge Pact in a bid to train enough qualified workers to bring about the energy transition. Along with Avans and Fontys Universities of Applied Sciences, as well as partners from the business community, they launched the project “Daar brandt nog licht". RWE is one of these partners. The intended outcomes of the project include an MBO Innovation and Expertise Centre for the Energy Transition and developing degree programmes for Sustainable Living Environment Advisors and Electrical Installers.

Successful kick-off with symposium

70 participants gathered in the inspiring Faculty Club in Tilburg to kick off the project. Guest speakers Fred van der Westerlaken and Eric van Schagen, among others, stressed the importance of qualified staff for a successful energy transition. To achieve this goal, cooperation between vocational education and the business community is crucial.

Marieke Drabbe, programme manager of 'Daar brandt nog licht’: “This kick-off symposium was not only a successful event attended by our education and business partners alike, but also laid a solid foundation for future collaboration in the context of energy transition in Noord-Brabant."

Energy transition needs qualified staff

The energy transition is a major challenge facing society and one that can be tackled only if we have sufficient, qualified professionals, who are able to adopt and embrace new technological developments, trends and new ways of working together. That is why one of the objectives of the OranjeWind Knowledge programme is to help train the workforce of the future.

Bas Jansen, OranjeWind Knowledge Programme Manager: "RWE is a proud partner of ‘Daar brandt nog licht’.  This symposium was a great opportunity to share insights and exchange ideas with others, and we look forward to continuing working together.”
