RWE has submitted a formal request to the municipality of Heusden (North Brabant) for the realisation of a wind farm. The planned location is in Hedikhuizen, north of Haarsteeg and Vlijmen. The proposed wind farm may consist of four modern wind turbines, which will generate sustainable energy for the electricity consumption of approximately 27,500 households.
The municipality of Heusden is commissioning a study into the environmental impacts of wind turbines for three potential areas within the municipality, through an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). To this end, the municipality has initiated an extensive research and public participation process, which will continue until mid-2026. It is expected that by the end of 2026, the municipality will make a decision regarding one or more wind turbine locations within Heusden, including the conditions for a project developer.
