About RWE & our culture

  • At RWE Benelux, we are proud of more than 100 years of history in the region and a strong culture built on trust, collaboration, and innovation. Our people are united by a clear mission: driving the energy transition. We foster an inclusive, international environment where everyone can contribute their ideas and feel part of something meaningful.

  • Our employees enjoy meaningful work in sustainable energy, exposure to cutting-edge technology like wind, solar, hydrogen, batteries, biomass and gas. In addition, our employees also value our positive work environment with a good work-life balance. We offer teamwork, innovation, and making a difference in the energy transition.

  • Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of how we work. We actively create spaces for dialogue and learning through webinars, podcasts, and events covering topics such as race, gender, disability inclusion, and LGBTQIA+ allyship. With over 20,000 colleagues worldwide from more than 80 nationalities, we make sure everyone feels respected and empowered to contribute.

  • The biggest challenge we face is also our greatest motivation: transforming our entire energy system to become climate-neutral. This means phasing out coal while massively expanding renewables and storage – all within ambitious timelines. Regulatory changes and market demands mean we have to remain flexible and agile, but we see these as opportunities to innovate and grow.

  • What sets us apart is our combination of global strength and local roots. We are one of the world’s largest renewable players, yet we remain strongly connected to local communities in the Benelux. Our integrated approach – from generation and storage to trading – together with a diverse and inclusive culture, makes RWE unique in the industry.

Application process (in general)

  • Please only use our online application platform for your application, which you can access from every job description by clicking on the "Apply now" button.

  • The process takes, depending on the role you would like to apply for, usually between 4-8 weeks and includes the following steps:

    1. Online application

Once you’ve found a suitable position, apply exclusively online using the “Apply now” button in the respective job description. If you have all the documents ready, the application process will only take 3-5 minutes. Immediately after uploading your application, you will receive an automated confirmation of receipt.

    2. Selection / Getting to know

The next steps in the application process depend on the individual position you’ve applied for. Generally you will receive initial feedback from us within two weeks after your application.

Your process may include some or all of the following steps:

    • Introductory meeting/ interview with the hiring manager and/ or a colleague from the HR department (virtually, by phone or in person)
    • (Mini-) assessment centre
    • Case study
    • Meeting the team

If you have any questions during the process, please get in touch with the contact named in the job description at any time.

    3. Medical examination

Some roles require a medical examination. You’ll be informed during the offer process if this is the case.

    4. Contract

If it suits both parties, we will be happy to make you an offer and send you the contract. Please complete it and send it back as soon as possible. The entire process typically takes about 6-8 weeks.

That's just the beginning. Now the real fun starts. Even before you join RWE, we'll start with your pre-boarding. We'll do everything we can to make it as easy as possible for you to join #TeamRWE.

In all of our application processes, it is important to us to get to know you as a person and find out together with you whether we are a good match.

  • For your application, you will need to provide some contact details and upload your CV. A cover letter is not required.

  • At any time, you have the option of tracking your application's status in your candidate profile.

Alternatively, please always feel free to get in touch with the contact person listed on the job advertisement.

  • You can upload files in .doc, .txt, .ppt, .pdf, .tif, .gif, .bmp, .jpg and .html formats.

We prefer PDFs. We regret that file formats not listed here, including .zip files, cannot be processed. The attachments must not exceed a total size of 5 MB.

  • Unfortunately, it is not possible to submit a speculative application at RWE, as our recruiting is a decentralised responsibility of the individual RWE operational companies. There is no central office within the Group that can check speculative applications and forward them to relevant departments. We hope you will nevertheless find what you are looking for in our job board.

Career opportunities & growth

  • Yes – career development is a key priority for us. We encourage internal mobility and support our colleagues with training, mentoring, and opportunities across our teams. Many colleagues grow their careers at RWE by moving into new roles and projects over time.

Working at RWE

  • Compensation at RWE is always tailored to the role, location and your experience – so there’s no one-size-fits-all package. Salary will be discussed openly during the selection process, and you’ll receive a transparent offer before any decision is expected from you.

In addition to a competitive base salary, our packages typically include performance-related bonuses, attractive pension or insurance schemes, and locally adapted benefits such as health initiatives, learning programmes or employee discounts.

Curious about what benefits could look like in the Benelux? You can find out more here:

  • Your onboarding process is individual and tailored to the role and requirements of the RWE company in which you work. This is how we ensure that you fit into your role easily and as quickly as possible. You can find more information on onboarding at RWE here.

  • The respective work location is always stated in the job description. For some positions, you can choose where you want to work. This is especially the case for positions where the teams work at different (often international) locations.

  • Hybrid (mobile) working is an essential part of RWE’s work culture and is also handled flexibly wherever possible. Depending on the respective position, it can be arranged with the manager at any time.

  • You won’t be left guessing – salary will be discussed transparently during the recruitment process, so you’ll have a clear understanding of the remuneration before moving forward. Once we’ve both established that we’re a good match, you’ll receive a full offer outlining your compensation in detail.
